Arriving in Orange County

"I invite you to imagine exactly what coming home will be like. You fly onto the John Wayne Airport in Orange County and wander down to the baggage claim, keeping an eye out for someone holding up one of those impersonal white place cards with your name on it. To your surprise, you are immediately approached by two young women who apparently recognize you, although you are certain you've never seen seen either of them before in your life. They jump up and down and hug you about four hundred times. They help you find your bags and then insist on carrying them for you. Then ask you so many questions about yourself that they know you better in ten minutes than most people that have known you for ten years.

When you arrive at Safe Harbor, you discover that your new home is positively charming. You walk up the path, open the gate of the white picket fence, anxiously anticipating what awaits you on the other side of the front door. The door swings open when you are only halfway up the front walk and six other girls stream out of the front door, hug you repeatedly and proceed to introduce themselves simultaneously. You share a bedroom with two other girls that practically follow you around the house. Everyone wants to know everything about you and wants to help you in any way that they can. The next two weeks are a whirlwind: meetings, walks on the beach, long talks on the back porch, etc. You could never have imagined living with seven other sober women and having the time of your life.

At Safe Harbor you will have lots of sober fun, but you will be challenged to face things about yourself - your past wreckage, and the uncertainty of your future that will scare you, or perhaps make you very angry. Your new family will be there every step of the way, nurturing and supporting you, and pushing you to dig even deeper.

If after reading this you decide that Safe Harbor Treatment Center has something you want, we invite you to become a part of our family, to share with us your hopes and dreams, your fears and your secrets. Once you decide to make Safe Harbor your home, the door will always be open to you." _  Anonymous Resident
