Safe Harbor's Healing Process Phase - III (Third Month)
In Safe Harbor's Phase III, women learn to recognize that recovery is a continuing journey that has just begin. During this phase, women develop tools to prevent relapse, establish realistic goals for their future and acquire skills for coping with the stress of everyday life. Their continued development of friendships with women in and outside of Safe Harbor's program becomes a vital asset and helps to provide each woman a supportive transition back to their home environment.

Women in Phase III will continue to meet with their counselors to plan her goals for the week and are encouraged to begin to take on more responsibility as they are able to determine their own goals. Each woman will continue to have the opportunity to discuss their goals with their other group members and receive feedback and encouragement from the group. Throughout the phases, women will be asked to continuously "check-in" with the group and their counselors to share their experiences, both positive and negative, and provide insight to how they dealt with their experiences and be receptive to group feedback.

Women that are in Phase III are looked to as examples of recovery for women that are newer in recovery at Safe Harbor and should encourage them to develop their own recovery skills and help them in the therapy process. Many of the requirements of Phase III women are based on the requirements in Phase I and Phase II with an emphasis on individual time and responsibility management overseen by their individual counselors. It is in this phase that many women begin to see that they have control of their lives and the tools necessary to be healthy and happy without their addiction and still have the support of everyone at Safe Harbor if they have difficulties.

Once you are a woman of Safe Harbor, you are always welcome and cared for. Our intention is not to provide a short-term solution for addiction problems, but rather a place where women can always come to for support and security. Just as members of Phase I look up to women in Phase II and III, all members are always encouraged by the great deal of alumni we have volunteering and working with Safe Harbor. Safe Harbor alumni are a very active and present part of the community and an integral part of a newcomer's recovery.
